Complementary Phone Consultation
During your phone consultation, we’ll explore your reasons for coming to therapy. I may ask about:
Your symptoms: How long have you been experiencing them? How often do they occur? On a scale of 1-10, how intense are they?
Life changes: Have you recently experienced any life disruptions or stressors?
Medication: Have you ever or are you currently taking medications to address your concerns?
Your history: Have you been in therapy before? For how long? What was your experience like?
You may share as much or as little as you like. I’ll speak about my therapeutic approach and answer any questions you may have. If you and I agree that we’re a good fit, I’ll conduct a brief Telehealth screening and we’ll schedule an intake appointment.

Individual Intake via Telehealth
During your intake, we’ll dig deeper into what brings you to therapy at this time. Moving at a pace that feels comfortable to you, I’ll begin gathering a history as it relates to your presenting concerns, and ask you to reflect on what you’re hoping to get out of our work together. I strive to establish a strong rapport early on in the therapeutic relationship by creating a relaxed atmosphere in which each client is free to be herself without fear.
Individual Therapy Session via Telehealth
For our first 4 – 6 sessions, I’ll request that we meet weekly. This is important in developing trust, consistency, and establishing therapeutic goals. We can then decide the appropriate session frequency going forward.
During each session, I’ll invite you to focus on what feels most salient for you. This means we may pick up where we left off the previous week or explore something entirely new.
I like to consider session content in 3 parts: what feels pressing and deserves immediate attention; what requires occasional maintenance; and what needs to be explored over a longer period of time?
Note that A Soul Awake Psychotherapy, LLC is an out-of-network provider. This means that while I do not bill insurance companies directly; your services may be eligible for partial or full reimbursement through out-of-network insurance coverage, flexible spending accounts (FSAs), or health savings accounts (HSAs).
Prior to your first appointment, you are encouraged to call your insurance provider to ask if you have out-of-network coverage for mental health services. You may reference CPT code 90791 for the initial intake session (60 minutes) and 90834 for all subsequent sessions (45 minutes), and let the representative you speak with on the phone know that services will be offered via Telehealth.
